Mr. Columbus Kibble, brother to Mr. Alex- ander Kibble, died suddenly on Wednesday, while engaged in his work as carpenter, in the employ of Messrs. Emmert & Heisley, on @ new building, No. 1622 P street north- west, Washington. In the act of setting a window frame he was observed by some of his’ fellow-workmea to fall backward to the ficor. A physician was summoned, but Mr. Kibble breathed his last a few moments after his arrival. The body was sent in the police ambulance to the home of the brother of the deceased, No. 217 Fillmore street, Anacostia, where it was viewed later in the afternoon by Coroner Woodward. Death ts supposed to have resulted from the excess- ive heat, as the deceased was in the best of health and spirits when leaving his home in the morning. The funeral will take place from the residence of Mr. Alex. Kibble Sun- day next at 2 o'clock p.m. The funeral of Mrs. Ella Penn, wife of Mr. George Penn and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. R. Dennison of Giesboro’ point, took place from the Congress Heights M. E. Church yesterday afternoon, Rev. D. H.W- son conducting the funeral services. Miss Birdie Shearer of Frostburg, Md., made a short visit to friends on Maple ave- nue Wednesday, leaving on the midnight €xpress for Knoxville, Tenn. Miss Florence Bowman, Miss Signa Guer- drum and Miss Nellie Lamson were amcng the graduates from the Eastern High School They Do Not Like Their Treatment by the Principal of Martyn College. What Was Said at a Meeting Held Last Evening — Prof. Edgerly’s Methods Strongly Criticised. ‘There was a rehearsal last evening, given by a number of students and graduates of the Martyn Dramatic College, that was not down in the prospectus of that institution, which is also known as the Shaftesbury | College of Expression and sometimes as the | American Academy of Acting. It was a re- hearsal, not of one of the plays in which Prof. A. Webster Edgerly promised to give instruction, but of the grievances of the students against the principal of this insti- tution. The meeting was held in a small hall at Metzerott’s and was in response to an advertisement calling for the students and the alumni to get together in order to tell what they thought of Prof. Edgerly. About forty young people were present, a dozen of whom were young women.
