INTEREST OF ALEXANDRIA COUNTY. The Gripman Proves That He Made No Threats. CANAL MATTERS. ‘The people of Alexandria county are circulating a petition for signatures, in which the governor of the state is asked to authorize the offering of a $00 reward for the arrest of the murderer of Swift, the old soldier from Connecticut, who was killed near Rosslyn about two weeks ago. The Rosslynttes, who, on the commission of the crime, seemed to rise in horror and who declared in the loudest terms that the murderer should be caught be- fore the marks of the death scuffle were obliterated from the public road, have set- tled down already to comparative peace and calmness. The fear which it is al- leged they entertained that the escape of the man would refiect great discredit on both the officials and citizens of Ross- lyn has apparently been dissipated.
