FROM ROCKVILLE. Montgomery Coonty Affairs of s Social and Political Natare. ‘orrespondence of The Fven‘ng Star. sy Rocavitze, July 11, 1898. ‘The Sunday school convention, composed of @slegates from the several schools in the fifth district, met at Colesville on the 9th instant and was well attended. The convention was pre- sided over by Mr. Jobn W. Kelley and was held in the M. E. Church South, which was handsomely decorated with flowers. A permanent organi- @ation was effected, with the following officers: President, J. W. Kelley; secretary, Mise Maggie | Davall; treasurer, Otho Parsley. Prof. E. M. Hine of Baltimore, cornetist, was present, and Mr. Charles Duvall acted as musical director. Among the speakers were Rev. G. H. Zimmer- man, Geo. H. Nock, J. W. Kelley, Chas. Duvall, Benj. Kelley, Otho Parsley, George Bonifant and Benj. Fawcett. Several beautiful solos | Were rendered by Miss Pauline Yerkes. The cireuit court for this county has ren- ered a decision in the case of the executors of the late John T. DeSellam against the trustees of Princeton College in favor of the latter. By Lis last will and testament Mr. DeSellum left a legaey of over $11,000 to the trustees of that {institution for the education of poor young men for the ministry, and on account of the in- definiteness of some of the provisions of the | il the executors declined to pay over the Money until the matter had been settled by the evart ° Mr. Thos. The building will contain eight | Inrge and well-ventilated rooms, a wide hall and | tower bay windows. The outside will be ren-| dered attractive by a handsome veranda and the | inside will be finished in good style, It will be Giuished by the Ist of November. Today hax been another one of excitement among the democratic politicians of the county, many of whom assembled here to compare notes and console one another in regard to the chances of the various candidates for nomina~| tion on the 29th instant. Much taik was indulged im, and much of it was only talk, in accelerate? by the free use of “con @rops.” Both f:etions appear to be sanguine of success, but still show no sign of abating their efforts. All kinds of arguments are used to infuence rotersand many unfounded rumors are in circulation. Should the present bitter feeling continue it is the opinion of many that | it will Jeave some scars on the party that cannot | De obliterated. The republicans appear to be enjoving the fight hugely. | The dwelling house of Mr. F. B.
