DOMESTIC DIFFERENCES Court, An employe of the United States Senate named Martin Joseph was in the dock of the Police Court this morning on a charge of hav- ing used threatening language toward his wife. ‘Mrs. Joseph was sworn after the defendant had said not guilty and the court asked: “Is this man your husband?” “Yes, sir,” was the reply. “What did he do to you?” “He got under the influence of liquor and put me and the children out of the house. He made threats and I want him bound over to keep the peace. “When did he Inst make the threats?” “About three months ago. “Has he behaved himself since?” ir: can't manage him. Whisky has got the better of him now.” “If he goes to jail,” said Judge Miller, “who is going to support you?” “I don’t know. “Is he all right when sober?” “Even then he has a raging temper, but when there is a mixture of liquor and temper I can’t stand it.” “What have you to say about this?” the iu : said,” was his asked the husband. “There's no truth in what sl reply. “She's got a temper, like myself. Judge Miller told the man something of the evils of intemperance, advised him to do bet- ter and took his personal bonds. There is ulso trouble in the family of Henry Washington, colored, and he and his wife did not think that the ties that bind them are blessed. ‘The green-eyed monster played an important part in their domestic relations and the husband threatened to leave home. But before going there was.an unpleasant meeting. Some ice cream had been bought for the children, but they could not eat all of it, and 0 Mrs. Washington thought she would enjoy what was left. But Henry would not let her, and they hada fight. The judge first thought that the trouble was the result of the husband's saying he was going away, but a disinterested Fitness appeared and gavo testimony and a fine of $10 or thirty days was imposed. a ALEXANDRIA. THE SOUTHSIDE STREETS OF THE CITY. ‘The question of street lines 1s agsin raised on Franklin street.
