THOUGHT TO BE A STRANGER, It is generally supposed that the would-be suicide is a stranger im this city, He is a Ger- man and basa light mustache. He wore a red checkered percale outing shirtand blue tie, black coat and vest and blue trousers, His heavy shoes appeared ex though ther bad passed over some rough roads lately, and his hat, a black derby, had been stripped of that portion of the lining’ on which would, in ail probability, be the name of the maker or dealer from whom the hat had been purchased, This was probably done ia order to prevent giv- ing the city from which the man hed come. In his pockets were found a small compass, a looking glass and two peneil sharpeners. Besides theve some letter paper and envelopes were found, but there was no writing of them, and this lends the officers to suppose that he has been away from home for some time and carried the etationery with him to use in’ corresponding with mother or wife, who he evidently did not intend should hear the last snd news, Not a single penny was found in his pocket, and the physician says be was probably under the influence of liquor at the time he shot himself, He will be kept in the morgue until he dies, and then the ofticers will make further efforts to ascertain something of his identity ‘The bullet, which, as already stated, was a large one. entered the right side of the head just over the ear and passed through the brain, fracturing the skuil on the leftside.
