No local musical orgenizstion bas a greater hold upon the community than this orchestra and the good work it bas done in enlarging and broad- roing musical taste ia fully recognized and ap- preciated. To the Fattor of The Evening Star: The account of the cagerness of engine horses to reach a fire, ina recent issue of Tur Star, calls to mind an incident in Utica, N. Y., in 1880. A horse, which had been many years in the service, was taken sick and a new one put in his place while the former was being doc- tored, he being hitched in an extra stall.
