An individual's business ‘must close at death, but the company exist- ence is perpetual. Accompany, such as this, is like a colossal Personality with magnified senses. Each individual in {ts management is selected for his special fitness for the peculiar place and he beeomes an expert in the exercise of his function. Such is the advantage in naming scompany, such as this, as your executor in preference to friend, who may Jack the experience and superior judgment in making judicious investment looking to the benefit of the heirs, who is subject to humsn failures and infinnities or whose death may precede your own, requiring the making of a new will. Then. too, one must consider the statist{- eal fact that = majority of individual ¢: ‘ecutors fail to render a final statement of the executorship. Bland HE WILL WRITE NO MORE. Mr. Blaine Says He Will Have Ne More Communications to Make. It can now be definitely stated, on authority no less than Secretary Blaine himself, that Mr. Blaine will write no more communications, either telegrams or letters, on the subject of the republican presidential nomination. Thestatement wos made to a Stan man just after Secretary Blaine’s departure from the cabinet meeting at the White House today and was in response to a suggestion that the Secre- tary might avail himself of the columns of Tax Sram in case he had any further communics- tions to make to the public on the eubject. Mr. Blaine smiled good naturedly and then remarked quietly, “I’m not going to write any- thing more.” He then changed the subject and politely declined to be led back to it, —————————__ HOW THE CABINET STANDS. ‘Mr. Biaine Said to Prefer Mr. Harrison's Candidacy to That of Others Mentioned. SKIRMISHING BEFORE BATTLE. Opposing Forces Arriving on the Politics! Field at Minneapolis. Mrxwzarouis, Mixx., June 3.—The hotel re- tundas were crowded early this morning, and the skirmish firing of the last few days swelled into roar of musketry as the main bodies of the opposing forces began to arnive. Both sides claim to be equally confident, but i certain that nothing positive can be predicted upon the “claim everything” statements made both by partisans of the President and of Mr. Blaine. The confidence with which the Blaine men announce that he will accept the nomination if it is extended bima and caim aseurance with which they are prosecuting the contest im bis bebalf bas’ had some weight, however, and the al politicians are ‘directing their at tention to a diligent analysis of the probable vote of the various delegations. the matter of figures the Harrison man- to the states which have given pesi- President and cite the tions for th assurances of support which they claim to be daily receiving from instructed delegations. The Blaine people gwe no details, but elaim about everything in sight, pot limiting their figures to the states in which no instructions wore given, but claiming scores of votes from states positively instructed for Harrison. NOMINATION PREDICTED ON THE PIRST BALLOT, Mr. Clarkson, who seems to have been ee signed to do the heavy tilting for the Secretary. of State, declared this morning that Blaine Abe nominated on the first ballot beyond pradventure, John ©. New, on the other hand, whe iim command of the Harrison artillery, that the nomination of the President om the first ballot wax a fact as certain as the rising of the sun in the enst, Neither faction seems to edmit the possibility of a dark horse being ia ne race, but there are those here—old amd ex- perienced politicians who are not shouting fer Gither wide who give itas their opinion that the whole thing will wind up, after & pre fight, in the now Mentioned. There are others who think that Seoretary Rusk is a promising outsider, and come of the Wisconsin people declare that be would have the administration strength if the President could not himself secure the nomination. In fact the backers of “favorites,” while they ere lying rather low in the tall grass, are not at all dixpleased with the outlook. They argue that the contest between Harrison and Blaine will de s bat® of the giants and that when the two get exhausted one of the small fry will carry off the prize. All sorts of rumors were afloat last night es to Secretary Blaine’s intentions and this morn- ings papers were eagerly scanned for # con- firmation or dehial of them. Both sides seemed to be satisfied with what they read. That is, each side read and beheved what suited it end set down the news favorable to the other side asa fabrication, The amount of it all is thet everything is still nebulous and now tive ir likely to be known until all the tions are on the ground and a count of noses is made. ‘The national committee will moet and settle on the temporary officers. There hes been « v expressed opinion that the convention aod ‘have a colared republican as either tem- porary or permanent chairman. Whether any- thing wall come of the suggestion remains to be seen. The “Blaine boom” bas not yet made its =p- pearance. ‘There is some solicitude over this fact, but it ix not denied even by the rabid Blaine men that the boom is late in appearing. Bena- tor Washburn gave Plaine dinner at his palatial residence, *“Fair Ouks,” last night, at which Mesers. Clarkson, Fassett, Payne and the others of the sub-committeemen, who are just now the custodians of the Blaine boom, were honored guests. ‘Those who were present ‘are rather reticent about the proceedings and maintain that it was simply a little social gath- ering. It is considered significant that none of Washburu's friends in the Harrison camp were invited, and it is generally believed the: Biaine plan of campaign was pretty carefully mapped ont. It was determined to open up Blaine head- quarters somewhere as « sort of conter of inSe- ence from which the workers can draw inspira- tion and instructions. This action will be taken tentatively and not openty. The determination to force Blaine into the fight and keep him there is making the Harricon managers more and more bitter. They are getting exceedingly sensitive and touchy. Behind every tree they sec a Blaine spook wkulking. ‘Asan instance of this is cited the kick that has just been registered by John C. New and bie porters against the big club mass meeting tobe held in the convention ball Tuesday evens ve just after the convention assembles. The Harrisonians profess to have discovered in this a big scheme to boom Blaine fs when it wonld do the most good. v assert that the subcommittee refused to permit the meeting unless it could name the speakers. ‘This was conceded by President John Good- now of the Minnesota State League of Clubs, whose pet idea wus the mast meeting for the spreading of ropsblican dock ines ia the werth- west. It bas now been announced that one of the principal speakers will be Gov, Foraker of Ohio, who isone of the leaders of the snti- Harrison movement.
