Hill and party arrived here at 6:50 o'clock this morning in twe special cars attached to the regular Richmond expross of the Pennsylvania railroad. The trip was almost without incident. Gov. Hill «pent the early morning talking with Senator Voor- hees and Gen. Slocum and retired early to bie state room. At all the small stations where the train stopped after 7 o'clock this morning there were little groups of men and women waiting tocatch a glimpse of the governor Senator. The intermittent rain made any demonstration impossiLle. At Ashland, a small station not far from Richmond, au advance committee to welcome the governor to the city consisting of Prestom Belvin, the president of the Powhattan Club, Mr. resident of the common Johu Bell Bigger boarded At the Richmond station Mayor Ellysom, Roddy Tensor,secretary of the Powhattan Club, and & committee of citizens were in wail with carriages. Gov. Hill, Senator Voorhees, Gen. Slocum and Mr. Belyin got into the fret by four white horses, aud when the other members of the party had been distributed among the other carriages they were taken through the principal streets of the city to Murphy's Hotel. ‘There Gov. Hill held « brief informal reception and shook bands with a number of leading local democrats. He then retired to his room to get a little rest be- fore luncheon. At 11:30 the members of the local committee called for Gov. Hill and took him for a drive through the city. Shortly after 1:90 o'clock the party arrived at the home of Mayor Ellyson, where an informal luncheon was served. After luncheon the party will be taken to the Weat- morelaud Club, returning W the hotel at & o'clock.
