Mrs. Stanford left the city on Monday for her home in Palo Alto, Cal., and expects to be ab- sent for three weeks, After that she will re- turn here, and then, accompanied by Senator Stanford, will start on the 29th of May for Eu- rope, where they expect to spend the summer at Kissengen. The, finishing decorations in the drawing rooms and library are rapidly nearing com} =e tion in the new house of Senator and Hearst. There is, however, a portion of the house completed in which they have been en- tertaining friends all the while. Miss Hillyer of San Francisco is still the guest of the house. Mr. A. W. Hearst of San Francisco paid his parents a fly- ing visit of three days’ length a week ago, but he expects to return for a month before the spring is over.
