Im response to a Senate resolution calling Upon the Secretary of the Interior for a report as to the cause of withholding patents for land within the limits of the Union Pacific grant, which are free from all claims and were not reserved at the date of the defi- nite location of the company’s road, Secre- tary Noble says that he is still considering the questions as to the lands of the Union Pacific railrosd company as to whether they are free from all claims and not reserved at the date of the definite location of the company’s road and other questions of law and fact ip connection with the grant. He, therefore, that it is not tothe best interests of the service that the report should be promulgated JUDGE KINCAID IN JAIL. A Favored Prisoner—Consultation With His Counsel—Asking a Speedy Trial. Cell No. 68 in the District jail was set apart for the incarceration of Judge Kincaid, who a shot that resulted fn the death of ex-Congressman William P, Taulbee, but the prisoner does not occupy it, except at night when be sleeps. Daring the day he wears long red-striped woolen gown and blue slippers and has the freedom of the rotunda and office of the prison. He receives his friends in the office and eats his meals atatable. He is not given the reg- ular prison fare, but pays for betterfood. The jail officials, like the police, have been very kind to the hose gg pr ear smapt ety preciate.
