The Schedule forthe Next Fiscal Year Adopted by the Commissioners. ‘The Commissioners have for caper ar been busily engaged upon their Proposed street improvements. As heretofore stated in Tax Stas, the original schedule pre- sented by Capt. Symons contained street im- provements the amount proposed to be ex- pended upon which footed up $2,500,000. When the matter was carefully looked into it was found after all other necessaries had been provided for that the Commissioners would be unable to set aside for the improve- ment of city streets and suburban roads more than the sum of $854,450, Of this sum they set aside $204,450 for the construction of county roads and suburban streets; the re- maining $650,000 was to be divided among the different sections of the city, and after a long discussion they adopted a ratio of apportion- ment as follows: For Georgetown, 10 per cent; for the north- west, 38 per cent; for the southwest section, 12 per cent; for the southeast section, 20 per cent, and for the northeast section 20 per cent. They also resolved to abolish the general schedule. Upon this ap; ent the differ- ent sections of the on fe get, the following amounts: George' 000; northwest, $247,000; contest 730, vo en $180,- 000, and the northeast ¢ In making out the ph eet gs of streets it was determined that there should be provided for: First, all the streets in the last schedule which were left over or which were delayed on ac- count of the uncertainty of the cost, and the @maining streets were picked out from those which appeared to be the most deserving. The original schedule as presented by Capt. Symons included $2,000,000 for city streets and e379. 000 for suburban road and county streets, | 4 all of which he considered highly deserving o! improvement. THE GENERAL SCHEDULE ABOLISHED. It was concluded to leave out the general schedule, as it was source of a great deal of an- noyance to the Commissioners by the residents of certain localities who deemed themselves injured by the action of the Commissioners in ‘ecting streets to be improved under the gen- eral schedule and because the amount of money | A. for necessary works was so small that it was thought better to apportion it directly and en- a among the aiderent sections. The fol- lowing is the adopted schedule: NORTHWEST. In this section all of the streets named above, with the exception of the last three, were in last year’s schedule, SOUTHWEST.
