SHE CHARGES HER HUSBAND WITH BIGAMT. Mary Thomas Butts to-day, by Mr. Campbell Carrington, filed a petition for a divorce from W. H. Butts, and the resumption of her maiden name of Anderson. She states that she has resided here for the past seventeen years; that defendant is a non-resident, his former home being in St. Joseph, Mo., and now she believes he is in New York city. She states that they were married June 28 last by Rev. C. 0, Ce of the M. E. church, and avers that defendant, unknown to her, had then a wife living, to whom he was married August 7, 1884, in Mont- gomery county, Ili., and her name was Rosie Kessenger. She avers that he failed to support her, and when she. a month after the marriage, ascertained that he had a wife living she charged him with it and threatened him with arrest, he acknowledged his guilt, ran away, and by representing himself as an unmarried man was permitted to join the United States army. She states that she had known him but a month previous to the marriage: that he “cruelly deceived her, and that this task was an easy one, as she was but a girl sixteen years of age.” a Trouble in the Palmer Family DOMESTIC DIFFICULTIES VENTILATED IN TER POLICE COURT. Eighteen months ago Mr. John W. Palmer, a clerk in the War department, married a widow. Both had grown children. They have had trouble from time to time, and three months ago one of their difficulties was settled in the Police Court. To-day the husband and wife appeared there again, and Judge Miller had to perform the painiul duty of listening to the story of their domestic troubles. Mr. was charged with assaulting his wife. He nied the charge and claimed that it should have been reversed. Both Mr. and Mrs. Palmer ad- mitted that the presence of her daughter in the house was the cause of all their trouble. € Sunday night.
