Berry Holds His Own with Champion Slocum—Other Games Yesterday. Mr. H. W. Slocum, champion of the United States, and Mr. W. V. R. Berry, of this city, en- tertained a few friends yesterday afternoon at the tennis courts of the Highland Country Club. Mr. Berry was in excellent form and the games | were all hotly contested from the first, being replete with hard drives, smashes and skillful | side-line play. The first set was won by the visiting champion, the score being 6-5. Mr. Berry succeeded, after many vantage games, in transposing these figures, thus winning the next set.
