He Was working at the sand-lifters, became suddenly faint and took bis seat 0a the scow and then laid down, saying he was very sick, and in a short time he was dead. A romantic story, in which a young man saves ‘a girl from drowning, 1s rewarded by her father ‘and afterward left heir to $15,000 by the father’s will, has come to light in New Haven, Conn. The young man ts Charles W. Selke, twenty-two years of age, a mechanic. Mr. Selke took a solemn oath not to disclose the name of his benefactor, and now says tbat the conditions tmposed in the will will probably prevent his accepting the money.
