JUDGE SNELL GIVES SOME ADVICE TO THE POLICE FoI This morning, in the Police Court, Judge Snell gave some good advice to officers concerning the service of warrants, especially those issued by magistrates. It appears that two colored men— Henry Fields and Wm, Jones—were arrested by the oficers of the eighth precinct on a charge of stealing four pigs from the farm of Perkins & MeChesney, in Prince 's County, Md. The pigs were sold to a color man named Samuel n, Who lives hear Howard University, Learning where the pigs were, Mr. McChesney went before Justice Heltick and obtained a Warrant on which there appeared the name of no defendant. The judge told the officers that they should exainine ail war- Tants given them for service. If in this case the man had resisted and assaulted the officer, the latter would have had no remedy, as the warrant was no protection whatever.
