Mise McCoy’s Talk to a Willard Han, ‘THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SCIEXCE AND PAITH CURE—THE RELATION OF DISRASE TO EVIL—HOW MI M'COY WAS CONVERTED. ‘Miss McCoy's lecture on Christian sclence inter- ested a large andience at Willard Hall last night. They bid an opportunity to test the doctrines of the subjugation of the sensations of tke flesh when they were met outside by falling temperature, carried on the wings of a cutting wind. Tue STAR Teporter was so far converted by the hour's talk that he turned down bis coat collar, and resolutely Tefused to rub bis ears to keqp out the id. Miss McCoy, a young lady with strong marks of ‘Will-power in her face, and a volce that was clear and pleasing to te audience, spoke for just one hour on the health and happiness to be had through Christian science. She said this sclence differed trom faith cure in as much as the be- levers in the latter considered that blind faith Was all that was required. TheChristian scien- Usts found the reason for the faith that was within them. ‘The science was the knowledge of the truth of Christ—divine truth—or God. HOW SHE WAS CONVERTED. ‘She said she first became converted through the cure, by meens of Christian science, of a sister who had been given up by all the doctors. She had found in Curtstian science the truth, and in truth Perfection. All persons, she declared, hed it with- theiuseives tobe perfect. There could be but one truth, but one power, God the good! ‘There could not'be two ommpotént powers. ‘The power Was good and it could conquer ailevil. The trou- bie with the teachings of the Christian churches— ‘the reason the mea were getting out of the churches and leaving them to the weaker women Pn tg said, because of the lnconsistency of the Yeaching in oné and tae same breath that God Was omntpotent, all-seeing and all-powerful, and that there was another power as great for evil as God was for good. Some of the greatest erimes and bloodshed, war and ¢: had been borne on tas shoulders ot theology. It did not satisty the demands of the soul. ‘THR ADVANCE OF DISRASE. Disease had, she deciared, advanced and pros- ered with the advancement of the med- fea scence. The more common became the pos- session of knowledge of medicines and surgery, the more they Knew of the construction of the human body, the more powerful became diseases. ‘Tuls did not” satisfy the demands of humanity. Christian setence taught that p rection and nap- plness could not be attained through paying at- tention to the body. It must be through the Spiritual man only that health and happiness couid be attained. “They must overcome darkness With light. “No one would go alone in « dark room and attempt to struggle against the darkness, ‘They would bear @ lignt before them and the darkness would vanish! It did not go into the ext roum.
