THE UMBRELLA HOMICIDE CASE ENDED WITH A VER- DICT OF GUILTY. ‘The Criminal Court, Judge Montgomery, yester- day, after Tae Stan's report closed, continued the trial of Beverly Jones, colored, for the murder of Robert B. Morris, by stabbing him In the eye with the ferrule of an umbrella Seppember 3, in an alter- cation about a bottle of whisky. District Attorney Worthington summed up for the Government, and the jury received the case shortly after 4 o'clock. Ata few minutes of 5 o'clock they announced their agreement, and twenty-five minutes later Judge Montgomery arrived. The jury was then brought into court and returned a verdict of man- slaughter. There were two men on the cots smoking opium when the officers arrived. One was the sty, New Yorker above referred to, the other was the proprietor of a business house on M street in West Washington.
