A STATEMENT THAT RIGHT COLORED MEN HAVE BEEN KILLED WERE BY POLICEMEN. Robert Gunnell spoke of the number of persons ‘that had been assaulted by police officers. He re- ferred to the case of Addison Coleman, who was killed by OMcer Shehan, and sald that elght col- ored men had been shot’and kitied in the District vy policemen, and that none of them had ever been punished. A COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE. On motion of Col. Carson Messrs, B.C. Reed, Jas, Washington, and Chas. Johnson, were ap- potnted a committee to investigate the case and report at the next meeting, which will be held at the same place next Weduesday. PROPOSED MASS-MEETING. Mr. Carson said to a Stax reporter that there would be a public mass-meeting held, which would be arranged at the next meeting, and that the colored people intend to investigate the case thor- oughly and sée that justice 1s and, if neces- sary, they willlay tne matier before the Presi- lent. Officer Keefe testi- fied that Sunday evening aman knocked at the defendant's door. Some person on the inside asked: “Who's there?” The man answered “J, 0, €.",and the door opened.
