Saville, local inspectors of steam vessels, have investigated the charges preferred by S. B. Davis, master pilot of the steamer Excelsior, against Jas T. Barker, master and pilot ofthe Lady of the Lake, and to- day submitted their report to Gen. Dumont. After commenting upon the evidence submitted, the re port concludes as follows: “We are of thé opinion that James T. Charles Nightingale Found Lying on the Sidewalk Bleeding — Charics Browner Arrested for Doing the Cutting. Charles Nightingale, a laborer employed on the Potomac River improvements, was found lying on the sidewalk near 13th and C streets, about 1 orelock this by Officers Ellis and Heller. He had been stabbed in the right’ Dreast, but was too much under the influence of liquor to realize his dangerous condition. A Montreal spectal to the New York Tribune says: At the beginning of this century Michel Le Blane came from France with his father and brother and settled in Philadelphia, where they invested largely in realestate. A few years after Michel removed to Canada, where he purchased a farm in Glengarry and married Margaret Mc- Donald, a niece of the bishop of Kingston. During: the war of 1812 Le Blanc, who Was very anti. British, was taken prisoner’ and was conveyed to Quebec for transportation to Lan When on the vessel at Quebec he aes overboard, and Was believed to have been drowned, Three months later he turned up in Glengarry, where he shortly afterward died and was buried in St. Rafaces’ churchyard.
