Another homicide to add to the long list of those already committed, and for which the accused are walting trial, occurred in South Washington Sat urday night, Robert B, Morris, white, being killed by Beverly Jones, allas Hickey, colored. Both men were employed as drivers by Stephenson's Express Company, and had turned in their teams Saturday night to the company’s stable in Desmond’s alley, between Ninth and Tenth and E and F streets southwest. Mrs, Dr. J. Randolph Walton, who resides in this city, yesterday received word from Bay Ridge that her son, Charles W. Irie, had committed suicide by hanging bimself to a tree near there. Thrle 1s about thirty years of age, and had been em- ployed at Bay Ridge. He gave up his sttuation there about three weeks ago and came here to visit his mother, returning to Bay Ridge last Wed- nesday. He was last ween alive some ume Friday night. He selected a pine tree in a thicket near “Scull Hull,” about one mile from Bay Ridge, from a limb of which he ended his life by hanging him- self. It appears that he took a slender twine and made a siip-knot and, throwing the loose side over the limb of a pine tree, stood up and puiled on the cord until he was suffocated. is face was Scratched by his finger nails. ‘The branch of the tree over which the line rested had been scraped, robably by the weight of the Lody. lie Was. I~ g on his back, the ieft arm under him, when found, and the’ supposition 1s that he threw the Tope over the limb and then pulled until he be- came suffocated and fell backward. ‘The limon which the rope loosely hung was six feet trom the ground. ‘The body was discovered by Williatn Wieser and wife, Dantel Clark and “Altes Dillon, Who had gone Yo have an oyster roast at “se Tnrie formerty lived in St. Mary’s county. He leaves two children, one of them an infant, Among his effects in possession of the coroner is a lever from his mother, dated College Station, August &, and post-marked Bullimore. It is asympatheue letter, consoling her son on the death of his wife, whicli occurred the day before. A watch, whic had stopped running 16 minutes after 9, a pocket~ knife, some cash, a postage-stamp, and’ handker- chief were the other contentsof thepockets. Those who saw the body and noticed the contracted muscles of the face, clenched teeth and distended neck, and called to mind the surroundings of the tragédy, remarked on the great nerve that must have been displayed by Ihrie in taking his life. ‘The fact was recalled that_he behaved curiously at the death of his wife, who was a daughter of Daniel Medford, She died in Baltimore, and was brought to Annapolis for burial, When the under- taker requested everybody to leave the room Ihrie whipped out a revolver and declared noman could drive him away from his dead wife. It 1s sald he had threatened to soot bis wife a short time be- fore, When she Was sick, Chief ot Police Martin was sent for, and Ihrie Was made to leave we house. ‘The body was removed to Annapolis, where Jus- tice Gray held an inquest, and a verdict of suiciae was rendered, Mrs, Walton and her husband went to Annapolis yesterday evening and took charge of the body. —-__ A POKER Game INTERRUPTED.—Saturday nigh!
