Another Victory. ‘THE WASHINGTONS DEPEAT THE CHAMPION CHICAGOS IN GOOD STYLE. ‘There was another interesting ball game at Cap- Mol Park yesterday, and the best of it was that the Washington’s succeeded in administering a defeat to the famous Chicago team by ascore of 3toO. Although the visitors were shut out, in reality they were entitled to a score, as Anson knocked the ball over the left field fence for a homerun. This was in the ninth inning, and but one Man was out. The big captain refused to run further than third base. His reasons were ob- Yious. One run would do the visitors nogood asfar as the ye Was concerned. He was anxious for more. By rematoing at third, the next batter, if he suceeeded in getting to first, could easily reach ene. and then a base hit would net two runs, eb a good chance of tlelng the game. With men on Dases, the fielders wot be much more apt to make errors, particularly the catcher, who was expected to come close behind the bat. "If Anson's scheme had worked he would have been highly praised as a base ball strategist. The Washing- tons made all their runs In the third inning, on a couple of hits and good base running by Myers, Carroll and Hines. ‘Whitney and Mack were thé home battery, and they performed their work nobly. Not a inan was given bis base on balls or by being struck by a pitched Dall. Whitney Was well supported, Myers in particular covering a great deal of ground tn good style. The victors Imaue ten hits and three errors, and the Chicagos eight hits and four errors. The home nine made One or two errors that are not Inthe score, and Which ought never to be repeated.
