What a Mother Did to Prevent Her Boy from Marrying. ‘Mrs. Von Schaffhausen, an old lady who lives on Ray's farm, near Forrest Glen, on the Mc branch of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, came to the detective office in this city yesterday to enter a complaint against her son, Ernest Von Schaffhausen, in order to prevent his marfiage to @ Woman she did not want for a daughter-in-law. AS the officers could not assist the old lady unless the young couple had violated some law or were Suspected of something other than matrimonial relations, she said she might as well tell them that he was a deserter from the army, and she would rather see him in custody than witness his mar. riage to this woman. She said that he enlisted October Sth, 1885, and deserted at Jefferson bar- racks, Missouri, January 3st, 1886. Detectives Raff and Horne took a description of the deserter, who is only 23 years of age, and an hour later they returned with bim from Untontown. He was captured before he could get his license to be mar- ried to-day. The yout man will be turned over to the War department, and 1s likely to take a trip to Fort Leavenworth.
