EXXMONS’ CASE CLOSED. The Testimony All in and Arguments te be Made To-Merrew. ‘The testimony in Une Emmons’ lunacy procecd- ings was closed yesterday and the case was ad- Journed (il to-morrow, when arguments will be made. After Dr. Kempster left the stand Miss Elen H. Williams testified that she tirst met Mrs. Emmons in 1573, at a boarding school at Borden- own, N.J. She was then married, but was after- ward divorced, At that time she had singular Ways and was noted as an odd girl. Afterward witness met her in New York. She was then mur- ried to Mr. Emmons, When she first knew Mrs. Emmons she did not have much money. When next witness Saw her in New York she was in Detter cireumstances and put on airs more than formerly. ‘The last time witness saw her was in 879, at the Brevoort, house, New York. Witness then stayed one Sunday with her. She was then despotic, dictatoriai and quarrelsome. Last Feb- Tuary Witness saw Mrs. Emmons, when she came to Washington at Mrs. Emmons’ invi- tation and remained two days. Mrs, Em- mons was then very much changed. ‘she could not tell a straight tale. During that time ‘abe never talked in a connected way. \ Her horse and clothes were not Udy. Witness next saw Mrs. Emunons at Butler hospital, and then came with her to Washington. She was then in excel- lent physical condition, but imperious, and strove to make a servant of witness, Who had been her associate and friend, and who caine to be her companion. She complained of the railroad offi. clals, that they were not courteous, etc. When snopping she would not say definitely what she wanted, and then was very angry hecause they Cid not understand her, and she "Would say that she had not been treated politely, and stamp her foot and clench her fist. Mrs. Eimmons would hot Jet witness go to Europe with her, because she Said witness was too “old-maidish.” Arthur Kelly, an employe of the geological sur- vey, testiied that so far as he knew Mr. Emmons had been Kind to hls wife. Witness corrovurated Dr. Kempster as to Mrs. Emmons’ delusions, and narrated instances when her us? of money, as the witness thought, showed that se did not know how to expend THE BIG DRILL, All Points of the Compass—A_Ponnsyl- vania Railroad Official Talks. ‘The past week has secn the growth of a regular i} “boom” in drill matters.
