An Interesting question relating to the law against counterfelting is to be settled by the Treas- wy department. The chief of the secret service recently seized a small painting,about a foot long by eight Inches wide. It wasan exact representa- tion of a $5 note painted on a piece of wood. ‘The deception was very clever, and it looked as if the Dill had just been pasted ‘on the board. ‘The clitef of the secret service was of the opinion that, itshould be destroyed as a counterfelt, but the owner strongly protested.
