There is considerable detail involved in taking a body of men like the infantry corps such a distance, and making provision for their comfort and coavenience after they reach the camp-ground. As the occa- sion is a holiday one and intended tor the recreation and pleasure of the members, the; are not subjected to the chances of a soldier’ | life in the field, and there is no danger of their being Separated trom the base of supplies or obliged to make the cold earth their beds, with | the skies as their canopy. ‘This latter contin- gency is provided for, as the corps own their n tents and the necessary camp equipments. Ever since their experience at their first en: campment at the White Suiphur Springs, about SIX years ago, when the tents were rented for the occasion, the corps have owned their own camp equipments, The tented fleld on that occasion presented a nondescript appearance, as each tent was different in shape and size, At the annual encampments during the succeed- | ing years the camp has had a more military appearance, and this year, at Atlantic City, as in former years at Cape May and Long Branch, the uniforin line of tents will enable the intan? try to show that in encampment, as well as on tlie parade ground, they present a soldierly bearing. ‘The camping ground this year will be on the lawn of the United States hotel at At lantic City, and a committee, consisting of Capt, W. Bruce Gray, Lieut. E.’ H. Neameyer and Mr. A. W. Kelly, will godown to Aulantic City today to lay out the camp and make the necessary arrangements, The following order has been issued: General Orders, No. 17. 1.
