The course was about 9 mile in length, from a point below Easby’ Wharf to the boat house. The single seull race was won by Noordzy, His competitors, Sprague and Reynolds, erossed the line bow and bow for second place. The race for single working boats was contested by LaDow, Reed and Secher. Reed won, Secher second. The four-cared sheii race was a very tty contest. The light weight crew that will row at the Fredericksburg regatta, consisting of Fisher, bow; Smallwood, Cornweil an ey stroke, was pitted Inst, a picked crew o Doyle, bow; Warden, Eimore and Sprague. The Fredericksburg crew at first had the race well in band, but }efore reaching the point of Ana- jostan Island Smallwood was taken sick and Fisher could not keep his course. AN EPILEPTIC WITH HOMICIDAL TENDENCIES. Severel days ago Officer Branson arrested Chris. Bohlayer, who, while under arrest, as- saulted the officer, who thereupon used. his club on Boblayer, who threatened the officer. Yesterday Branson was passing Boblayer's house, corner of 9th and I streets southeast, when the latter threw a brick at the officer. Betore be could throw another the i bed him, and a tussle ensued, during which Bohlayer gave Branson a severe bite on his fin- ger, taking a part of the nail off, and the officer was forced to give his prisoneraclubbing. After a hard struggie Bohlayer was locked up at the eighth police station. ‘This morning, in the Po- lice Court, he was fined $5 for proianity and a charge of ‘assaulting the officer was sent to the grand jury; bonds, $300. Alter the case was tried the Judge received a note from Bohlayer’s wife ia which she ex- pressed the belief that her husband was of un- sound mind. The judge called the attentjon of the prosecuting attorney to the case and said he thought it should be attended to. ‘The Judge relerred to the fact ot Boblayer having killed one man and attempted to Kill several others, He was an epileptic, and, the judge thought, with homicidal tendencies. ewan sms The Permanent Exposition.
