The cases of John Hitz (late president) and Charles E. Prentiss (Inte cashier), of the Ger- man National bank, fifteen in number, charging them with making false entries in the books of the bank in 1878, were called in the Criminal Court, Judge MacArthur, yesterday afternoon, as stated in THE STAR. Representatives of the various companies of the veterans of the Distriet ot Columbia met last evening at Abner’s hall and heard the report of the treasurer and executive committee in regard to the parade which was held last month. The general conclusion reached and the verdict of those present was that the cele- ation of the twenty-fith anniversary of the ‘mustering” into the service of the government of the District men was a grand success. This general | satisiaction was increased by _ the report of the treasurer, which showed that $341 had been expended, leaving a balance due the treasury of some forty cents, ‘The permauent association was then formed, to be Known as the “Associated Veterans of the District of Columbia, April, 1861,” and the fol- lowing permanent officers were ‘elected: Wm. 0. Drew, president; Dr. J. D. Adams, secretary: Capt. S.’A. H. Marks, corresponding’ secretury, and George Brown, treasurer. Capt. George Wagner was made honorary vice president, and it was provided that euch of the eight bat= talions should elect a vice president. The exec- dive committee is ws be eoinyposed of one mem ber from each company, and the association is to have four meetings & year.
