Dye and Miss Harriet Lor- ing calling attention to the unusual amount of suffering among the poor of the District and the lack of tuads avaliable for their relief, state that they recognize the amount of destitution and indigency now among the poor, and in order to relieve it to the extent in their power have added to the relief fund, which is now almost exhausted, the sum of $2,000, taken from the appropriation made tor extraordinary emer- geueies, and they also state if this should not suffice, added to aid given by citizens, the Comunissioners will consider the matter far- ther.
