The circuit court at Cincinnati has ren- dered a decision in the election mandamus case. Judge Cox rendered the decision. He said it was a petition for a mandamus filed by Amizi McGill for himself and three others, can- didates for election as state senators, averring that the canvassing board was proceeding to do its work illegaily, and asking the court to compel it to count the returns according to law and to issue certifi- cates to them instead of to the democratic can- didate. The court held that mandamus was ‘the proper remedy. Ayu eee Tyndall Attacks Gladstone. CHARGING HIM WITH CAUSING “FIVE YEARS (OF HUMILIATION ABRO.2D AND CONFUSION AT HOME.” Mr. John Tyndall, the English savant, has written a letter in which he declines to stand as a candidate for member of parliament for Ren- frew. A number of colored women and one white woman were left in the house on account of their delicate condition.
