EACH OARSMAN CHARGING THE OTHER WITH WANTING TO SELL OUT, In regard to the Associated Press dispatcbes from Toronto, which state that Hanlan had published Teemer’s correspondence, in which the latter offered to sell out in the recent race, Teemer says: “I wrote the letters for the reason that Hanlan would not row me unless I gave a marantee that he should beat me.” He added, fhat when be had been making negotiations with Hanlan, that oarsman made the require- ment so imperative that Teemer aimost gave the proy ‘match up for hopeless, and when he came home he was still greatly’ im with the fact that Hanlan was stubborn in this determination and would not row him unless some such guarantee was given. After the match was made Teemer further said that Hanlan went to Wallace Ross, who was train- ing Teemer, to have him persuade Teemer to lose the race and let Hanlan win it, Mr, Volk, Teemer's backer, being interviewed, said he knew nothing of the correspondence, Teemer had written to Hanlan without his knowledge.
