MY: DRESS GOODS “Novelties” in Dress Goods usually take first rank, and justly so, for this season they are simply superb. As more than @ majority of these fabrics are in Boucle effects (Boucle, pro- - Rounced ‘Boo-clay), we give the following de scription of the goods: Boucle is ¢ French word, and means curled or kinked. The warp is of ‘two threads, one forming the body of the goods, with the filling, and the other Is of curly or kinked strands, which stand out from the sur- face in little woolly circlets giving the goods an allover “nappy” effect. In some, colors are carelessly interwoven, producing, almost im perceptibly, narrow stripes and little blocks. Some are more j,and some are of wide stripes, forming a border which is used for the trimming. “Another novelty” is a Chenilleembroldered, on @ smooth suftace, the figure being quite wide apart, and {s a shading of two oF more contrasting colors, producing a decidedly harmonious effect, and is considered quite re- cherche. ‘These are in Combination Dress Pat- terns of 5 yards each. Plain Camels’ Hair Serges, with wide colored Boucle borders, in the prevailing Fall shades ‘and colorings. Fiue Casimir Cloths, with elegant chenille- embroidered set figures in shaded effects: in Bronze, Myrtle, Havana, Dregs of Wine, Seal Brown, Garnet and Navy Blue. ‘The beauty ofthe uew goods this season Hes in the fact that, seen at a distance of twenty yands, they pass for one color, while as high as three, four and five are woven therein, and only noticeable at close quarters. New Blach Goods “Novelties” will be dis- played Tuesday Morning, September 15th @ full description of which will appear later; meanwhile, we ask you to take a peep.
