THE CHARGE ON WHICH TWO YOUNG MEN ARE HELD, In the Police Court this morning two young men—William T. Waters and Everett B. Duval were placed on trial, charged with obtaining 95 from William Hudson, a guard at the jail, by means of false pretenses—a worthless check. Mr. Hudson testified that on the night of May 18th he met the defendants in Elwood’s saloon, and he cashed a check for Duval (or $5, which wus drawn on the Citizens’ National bank, E.V; Eads, paying teller at the bank, testified hat the check was worthless, as Waters had no count at the bank. ‘The check was drawn by Waters, payable to Duval or bearer. Detective Edelin testitied that he arrested the defendants, They stated that Duval filled the check and Waters signed it. They afterwards said they supposed the check was a note. ‘The case was sent to the grand jury; bonds, $300. nn A Bank Robbed.
