The beautiful custom of “Children's Day” was. observed generally in the Methodist churches yesterday, and in some of the other Protestant ehurcbes. As the name would indicate, the day is for the children, and the exercises are largely carried on by them. The usual church surroundings are adorned and heightened by beautiful flowers in profusion, and the children in their white dresses and with their bright, happy faces made the occasion one of the gala festivals of the church. The programs were aay, musical, made up of choruses for the a le ones, interspersed witb Scripture recita- tions. At the First Presbyterian church, yesterday morniug,the pulpit was adorned with flowers, and the children of the Sunday school oceu- pica, the front pews, and in thelr midst sat the President, who was accompanied by Mrs, La- mout and Miss Nelson.
