He Grasps Col. De Ahna by the Throat and Ejects Him From His Omice—The Colonel Swears Out a Warrant Charg- ing the Commissioner With Assault. Col. De Ahna, well known in this city, is now @ land office agent at Carson City, Nevada, and is on leave of absence in Washington, His accounts have not been settled, and he has called several times at the iand of fice to urge their settlement. This morning Commissioner Sparks became impatient and told him that he had no time to censider the matter. Gol. De Ahna persisted, when the com- missioner Jumped up, and reer ine Bim’ by. the throat, pushed him towards the door, calling out “Messengers, put this man out.” Col, De Abha made little resistance, but as he went out the door, he said, “You are making a d—n fool of yourself.” The affair created great excitement, which was increased when shortly afterwards the colonel returned and procured the names of the witnesses of the affair, stating that he had sworn onta warrant in the Police Court charging Commissioner Sparks with as- sault, Col, De Abna said that he would probably lose his place, but he did not care for that, as he wanted to show what sort of a man Mr. Sparks 1s, He says that he conducted himself as agen- tleman, and that his anxiety to have the accounts settled was simply to get the money which had been due him for several months. 0 Pension Office Promotions. Andrew Jackson, colored, living at 318 M street southwest, was taken violently ill on Wednesday, showing symptoms of poisoning, and Dr. Hazen was summoned to attend him. About an hour later his daughter Ella was taken In the same way, and soon afterwards his daughter Nannie was brought home, she hav ing fallen in the street while on her way to school. They were all attacked with violent fits of vomiting, and it was feared the results would be serious. This morning the two girls were somewhat better, while Andrew was worse, The contents of the stomachs have been sent tothe District chemist for analysis. ‘Wm. Ross, colored, was arrested on suspicion of causing their sickness, he being suspected by the family of poisoning them. Jackson'sdaugh- ter stated to a STAR reporter that Ross, who isa. married man, was the father of her sister's two children; that her father had driven him from his house, for which he threatened her father's life. Ross, she said, sont them some catfish on ‘Tuesday, which they think were poisoned. Last week Ross went into a store in South Washing- ton and asked for some cartridges, saying he wanted to kill somebody on M stroct.
