Bond, charged with having committed a rape on the per- | son of Mrs. Loutsa Carr on the 27th of March last, was, after the charge by Judge Wylie, given to the Jury at 3:40 o'clock. A number of peopie remained in and about the court-house walting for the ver- dict, but none was received, and an intimation being given oUt that te jury was hopelessly di- vided, the crowd by 10 o'clock p. m. had retired. ‘When the court was convened at _ten o'clock this morning the fury was sent for, and taking their seats they were called. In answer to the question, “Have you agreed upon fet 2” Mr, RC. Omohundro reported, “We ve not.” “Is there any chance of agreeing?” asked the court. ‘Mr. Omohunt ‘Tae court — ‘No posstble chance.” ‘You are discharged.” HOW THE JURY STOOD. It 4s understood that the first ballot stood four for conviction and eight for acquittal, and they re matned so until near 10 o'clock, when one of those fer convietion went over. The next ballot was nine for a verdlet of not guilty and three for a verdict of gullty.
