New Yorx, August ?7.—Wire cutting appears to have "been introduced as a new feature in, the Strike of the telegraph operators eince the failure ot ‘out yesterday in ord: ‘out inci r vol No inconvenience was felt, and there was 1 thle delay In tranamiasion, when suddenly about 11:80 o'clock the wires rerused to work, and there Was for a time a cessation of all business, It was Suspected that the wires had be-n cut, and lin men were sent out to discover the cause of the ac- work, cident. About twenty-five wires to the east, be- longing to the circuits of the Mutual Union, the American Union and Atiantic and Pacific com- panies, but now belo! to the Western Union, ‘Were still at work, and the business was crowded. upon them. Later, however, these were also in- terrupted, and there seemed to be no means of escaping disaster from every point. It was found, however, after considerable delay, that the circuits by way of Albany could be utitiz*d and most of the business was transmitted by that route as woll as by Toronto and Montreal. To-day the linemen Of the company found that the wires at Scarsdale, & point on the Harlem railroad about 25 miles trom New York, to the number of 29, had been cut, evidently by experienced hands. The wires comprised the old Mutual Union, American Union and Atlantic and Pacific ines. They divide at this point, some going to the north and others to the east. Only the latter were cut.
