Fifteen years ago Samuel Potter, a workingman, came to St. Paul from England in company with the late Dil- ton O'Brien, the Irish author. By degrees be rose trom a penniless mechanic to the wealthy propri- etor of a large furniture establishment. or past ten he has been living with a woman Supposed to be his wife, Borh have long tan rominent members of St. Paul's Episcopal church. now transpires that Potter deserted his wife and five children in England. This wite has just Appeared in St. Paul in company with one of her sons, and has begun pi ings for divorce and alimony. Potter confesses that he was never married to the woman with whom he has been living ip Bt Paul, and claims that he left his wife in England because she was unfalthtul. Cox and Jesse Munroe, two of the three a known as the beardless train robbers, assisted by a colored. convict, overpowered the guard at Cool Hill, Arkansas, on Monday and escaped. They were employed there as miners in a coal mine. These boys, together with William Dulaney, some time ago attempted to rob an Iron Mouiain ratl- passenger train near Hope station, and were afterwards captured, tried and sentenced to sev= enty years’ imprisonment. Men with blood- hounds are on the trail of the two who escaped, and they will no doubt be recaptured or killed. oe wis ABDUCTED ON HER WeppING Eve.—Miss Lillie Parry, of Minneapolis, was abducted on Wednes- day by ber mother at Syracuse, N.Y. The young laay was ged to be married to T. W. Cham- berlain, of Minneapolis, and the match had been approved by her grandmother and other friends, but bitterly opposed by the mother, who has car- ried her off to prevent the marriage. The young lady was sent to Syracuse by the mother to get ber out of the company of her sweetheart, but this not prevent thelr corresponding, and the Mother went east and for some time hes been Hiv. a same house with herdaughter. Bascy’s wife was complainant, On April 12 the girl, while ining with Basey, was arrested for drunkenness, was on promising to return to her parents in Collinsville. She, however, rejoined the negro, and has since been living with him. Maggie says that she first met Basey at a school exercise in Collinsville, where he was present with a party of Jubilee singers over a year ago. She came to ford to learn dressmaking, and again met Basey, He became assidious in his attentions, interesting her at first with tales of the slavery days when be Was in the south.
