MR. STINEMETZ AGAIN ON THE STAND. ‘The Hill investigation was resumed this morn- ing with Mr. Stinemetz as witness in the Bartlett- -| Robbins case. In 1874, when witness was assist- ant superintendent of construction of the New York post office, extra work upon the building ‘Was Cherged for by Bartlett, Robbins & Co. amounting to $37,000, Witness reed extracts from two letters written by him to the supervising architect relative to the work which “was at that time being done byBartlett, Robbins&Co. undertheir contract. In one he represented that the work was being delayed through not having sufficient force employed and was not likely to be completed at the stipulated time. In the other letter he complainede of the character of the work, and advised a sus- Pension of payment to them (Bartlett, Robbins & Go.) until the wark could be properly inspected THE TRIAL OF THE FOUR ALLEGED MURDERERS, In the Criminal Court, Judge Wylie, yesterday, the trial of Olmstead Ward, Alfred Warren, Joseph Marshall and Washington Curry, indicted for the murder of Joseph Creek, on November 29th last, was continued after our report closed. George Warren testified that Washington Curry was in the middle room when the fight was going on in the front room. Alfred Warren, one of the defend- ants, testifled that he and Marshall and Curry were in the middle room. Joseph Marshall, another defendant, corroborated the preceding witness, and, !n addition, sald he saw Ward with an axe in his hand aiter the fuss had occurred. ‘This concluded the testimony. The court said that there was no evidence against Curry, but the Rfeponderance was in nis favor. He had grave dou! DROWNED Man.—The body of a drowned white man, found floating in the river, was towed into King street dock last evening by John Davis, a colored man. J., June 29.—The commissioner of Tallroad taxation has filed his annual report in the office of the state covtroller. It shows an in- crease in the value of railroad property in this state since the last report of three million dollars, ‘The total value of the railroad property in the state 1s placed at two hundred ruillion dollars.
