Brown, who lives on 16th street, be- tween 20th and ist, called this morning on the chairman of the citizens’ committee to see if he could obtain assistance in recovering a watch which had been stolen trom his residence last year. Inthe course of the conversation Mr. Brown stated that he had been robbed twelve different times during the year 1881, and had reported in each instance to the detectives, but never discovered any- thing. Since the purchase of a dog he had not been troubled with thieves. The sworn statements of the robberies committed by Parker, which appeared in Saturday’s STAR, created vyie- Sprrad attention. Asite from the interest attached to the recital of such experiences, the ligut which was thrown on the methods of thieves ant their connections and friends was somewhat starting. ‘rhe concluston reached very generally Ws low it was possible that such operations could be carried on under the very noses of the police.
