JERRY Hays.—Mr. Jerry Hays, a well-known Alexandrian, died at his home, on Columbus, near Wolfe street, last night. He was hurt on the raflroad many years ago, and has never recovered trom the irjury, of which, at last, he died. During late years he was for a consider- able time engineer at Unler’s mill, foot of 9th street, Washington. His son, Patrick Hays, was killed on the Midland ratiroad a few weeks ago. FIGHTING AN OFFICER.—Pollceman Myers charged a colored man named James Parker in the Police Court to-day, with having assaulted him. He stated that he’put the prisoner unde arrest at Tenleytown yesterday for disorderly conduct, and he fought all the way to the station- house, hitting witness in the face several times. Parker was sentenced to 69 days in fail for the as- sault, and 18 days additional for disorderly con- ict. A telegram from Detroit says that it is difficult to ascertain the particulars of the failure of Ferry & Bro., at Grand Haven. They have been develop- ing for several years a silver mine in Utah, which has taken all the means they could raise."
