THE CLOSING RACES—TUW WINNERS OF THE “EVR NING STAR” CUP—OTHER LOCAL BOATING MAT- TERS. : The first Potomac regatta, which took place yes- terday afternoon, was a complete success, and notwithstanding the fact that the races were not as closely contested as was expected, the lovers of aquatic ‘sports feel that the Potomac regatta 1s Tegularly established, and hereafter the annual Taces on the Potomac will be largely participated in by crews from other cities. The Potomacs rowed them down, and the three crews crossed the line as follows:— 4; Potomacs, 10:74; Analostans, THE SENIOR FOURS. ‘The greatest interest centered in the next race, which was rowed by senior fours from the Poto- mac and Columbia clubs. The race was promptly called at 3:15, an both crews took the water to- gether. The Columbias gradually forged ahead, and before the first half mile was rowed they had the race well In hand, and barring accident were sure winners. ‘The Potomacs were unable to ¥ent the gap between the boats from wilening.
