AN UNDIMINISHED SUPPLY OF COUNTRY PRODUCTS— IMPORTANT CHANGES IN LAST WEEK'S QUOTA- TIONS. Not much change can be noticed in the city mar- kets since last week. ‘The supplies have teen un diminished, trade active, and prices as a general thing low. Tue country near by has continued to pour into the city vegetables and fruits to the almost exclusion of products sent from the south. ‘The prices of fresh meats are unchanged. The me may be said of smoked meats, with the ex- ception of an advance of one-fourth cent on hams and high grades of meat. ‘There 1s an activity in the best grades of butter and a good demand. Dealers state there has been more poor butter in our markets this year than ever known. ‘The sason for Tass has beer better, but too much rain and cloudy weather for butter to be of the best quality. THe FLOUR MARKET 1s quiet, no perceptible change being noticed since last week other than tndfcations of a weakening in price. The value of new wheat now governs the flour trade. Wheat fs steady and all arrivals gare disposed of quickly. Corn 1s sald to be yielding some. Oats show but little fluctuation, and are steadily arriving, with an active demand. Flour sold in lots command prices as follows: Minnesota tent process, $8.75a¢: K standard " ‘xtra, $4. 50a$4; fine, $2.509$3; middling, $2.25a 59$4." Corn meal, bolted, white, 88c. do.; unbolted, yellow, 83.85c. GRAIN. All wheat finds its 3 ‘town mills. ‘The Virginia mills are reported short of water, and not much flour 1s coming in. : Wheat, ch: BUTTER. While the jobbing trade in butter has been good the past week, prices remain almost the same, with the exception of New York, the best grades of which have advanced two cents per pound. This is sald to be attributable to the large amount of poor butter arriving from the West and the near by productions. Jobbing prices are as follows: fancy creamery, 54a35 cts. per pound; fine do., 30a 82; New York iubs, fancy, 3082; do., good, 28130; Owing to the scarcity of the best ade of New York and Western stocks, some of the enterprising dealers in this city have com- menced the introduction of the Pennsylvania glades butter. ‘The first arrivals for this season have opened up a very superior quallty. Itislikely that there will be quite a heavy run on this butter should the quality conUnue as good as at present. The Glades butter sells for 2 to 2 cts and best selections 28 to 30 in quantities. ‘The Western factory butter of current makes bring 18 to 20 cts. per pound in lots and June make 2 to 2cts. The Virginia and Maryland makes sell for 20 to 2 cts. Eggs are 22 cts: and in de- man THE FRESH MEAT MARKET stands the same, there having been no new im- pulse noticed. The trade 1s quiet. Choice hind quarters of beef, 11 to 12 cts.; com- 8 to 9 cts; cholce for quarters, ; common do., 5 to 6 cts; cholce dressed lambs, 10 to 11 cts.; common do.,8 to 9 ets.; choice dressed mutton, 8 to 9 cts.; common €o.,'6 to 7 cts.; cholce dressed veal, 10 to 11 cts.; common d0.,8to 9cts. ‘The market 1s medium as to activity, "The retail price 13 about the same with no ‘unusual demand. The retall men say that during the season while vegetables and fruits are so abundant the demand for fresh meats are never So great, In the cured meat and pork line jobbing prices rule as follows: Smoked sugar-cured hams are 16\a16% ; ngur-cured shoulders, 13% to 144: breakfast bacon, 16%; to 1744; dried beef, 17 to 18; beef tongues, $6 per dozen; jowls, 73g to $ cts. per Ib.; lard, 133 to 14 ets. per Ib.; western bulk sides, 15 cts.'do.; bulk sh ed sides, 16 cts.; do., s clear sides unsmoked, J5cts The market is not qute so firm, showing slight indleations of weakness. Poultry fs in good demand and sells very readily. Live turkeys sell from 9 to 10 cents per pound; old fowls, live, per potnd, 11 to 12 cts.; chickens, spring, large, per pound, 15 to 16 cts. ; do.,medium, per pound, 15 cts.;do., small, per pound, 14 to 18 cts. ; geese, live, each, 40 to 70 ets. ‘VEGETABLES AND FRUITS.
