CHARGE OF STEALING Mars DismissEp.—George H. Tansil, the colored messenger in the engincer’s office in the Columbia building, who was arreste1 a few days ago for the larceny ‘of a-set of maps, the property of the District of Columbia, was put on trial tn the Police Court this morning. Mr. C. M. Smith appeared for the defendant, and Charles H. Moore for the government. Special License Agent Roff testified that he discovered these maps in the office of W. T. Stewart, a broker, at 514 9th street, and learned from him that che got them from Tansil. Lieut. F. V. Greene, Assistant Engi- neer Commisstoner, testified that these maps were publisued by the District of Columbia and cost about $2 per set. He stated that the maps were rinted by the District for the benefit of the pub- le, ‘The defendant was the messenger of Cai Hoxte and not his messenger.
