Correspondence of THE EVENING STAR. RewosorH Beacn, Det., July 6, 182 This favorite resort grows more popular cach year. The number of guests at the Bright House, notwithstanding the backward weather, has steadily risen to about one hundred, and the pros- pects are favorable for a very successful seasor. The Douglass House, also a supertor edifice, in all Tespects as well equipped, though not so capri- cious as the Bright, 1s steadily filling, and the guests who have taken quarters there are warm 1n their praise of the accommodations it affords, This. house Is situated one mile south of “The Bright,” and is connected therewith by a telegraph line, and a board wale lald near the surt. Both of these houses are under the effictent management of Walter Burton esq., whose long experience in catering to seaside Visitors has made him highly proficient in this work, and very popular with his guests. His prices are reasonable, considering the accommodations afforded, and that he makes the re and comfort of his guests of the first im- portance. i ‘The drives over the extenstve tract connected with this resort are as pleasant as any that can be found on the coast south of Long Branch. The ground fs a heavy clay soli to within 300 yards of the surf, and to its natural advantage has been added a liberal outlay for artificial work until at this season of the year. they approach very near to the quality of macademized streets, so hard and firm are these thoroughfares. A Deautitul belt of large oak trees skirt the edge of these grounis about one mile back from tue surf. The grounds are regularly laid out with wide avenues, and the number of cottages has increased to nearly a hun- dred, all of which are ttdy and tasteful, and many are expensive and elegant. Rehobotn ‘pay, lying about one-half mile southwest of “The Douglass House,” affords the finest fish and oysters, and 1s quite an attraction to persons fond of piscatorial sport.
