Euncral Services at the Jail This After- noon. ‘This morning Warden Crocker sent a request to Health Ofticer Townshend for permission to bury the remains of Guiteau in the U.S. jail, his rela- tives and friends having taken no steps for his burial. The question as to the power of the health officer to issue a permit for burial at any other than a recognized place of burial, was dis- cussed, and under the circumstances, the body having already become offensive from decompo- sition, he decided to give the undertaker, J. R. Wright, a permit for temporary burial until such lsposition be made as the relatives and friends ot Guiteau may determine upon. THE BURIAL PERMIT. From the Cleveland Herald. “I suppose Vanderbilt has a right to do as he Pleases with his stock,” said a gentleman who had lately spent a week or two in New York, and who takes an interest in fast horses toa Herald representative yesterday, “but the American public generally will be sorry to learn ofthe manner in which he is managing that great favorite, Maud S. I saw him driving her a few days ago. and it was clearly evident that he was spoiling her. He drives her likes a Jehu, no matter what the condition of the roads may be, and puils and hauls the mare about much asa hack driver might be expected to do with a less royal team. I was sorry to see it. 1 was told that he was not only spoiling her gait, but spoil- ing her temper as well; and you know what an excellent reputation Mand used to have on ac- count of her kind disposition. I would rather see Vanderbilt stick to his railroad stocks.” SEIN HUMORS AND SCROFULOUS IMPURITIES OF THE BLOOD, WHICH HAVE BEEN THE TORTURE OF A LIFE TIME, SPEEDILY, PERMANENTLY AND ECONOMICALLY CURED BY CUTICURA REMEDIES. I have been afflicted for twenty years with an obsti- nate skin disease, called by some M. D.g Peoriasie, and others Leprosy, commencing on my scalp, and, in spite of all I could do, with the help of the most skillful doctors, it slowly but surely extended, until, ayear azo this wiuter, it covered my entire person in form of dry acsles. For the last three years Ihave been unable todo any labor, and suffering intensely all the time. Every morning there could be nearly a dustpanful of sceles taken from the sheet of my bed, some of them half as large a8 the envelope containinz this letter. In the latter part of winter my skin commenced crackin open. I tried everything, alinost, that could be thought of, without any relief. The 12th of Jane I started west, in hopes I could reach the Hot Springs. I reached De- troit, and was solow Ithonght I should have to go to the hospital, but finally I got as far as Lansing, Mich , where Thad a sister living. One Dr. treated me about two weeks, but did me no good. All thought I had but a short time to live. I earnestly prayed to die. Cracked through tie skin all over my back, across my ribs; arms, hands, limbs, feet badly swoilen; toe-nails came off; finger-naiis dead and hard as boue; hair dead, dry and lifeless as old etraw. O my God! how I didsuffer. My sister, Mra. E. H. Davis, had a smal! part of a box of Curicuna in the house. She wouldn't wiveup. Said, “We will try Curicuna.” Some was applied on one hand and arm. Eureka! there was re- lief; stopped the terrible burning sensation from the wordgo. They immediately got the Curicuaa Ri SOLVENT, Curicuna aud Soap. I commenced by taking one tablespounful of ResouvenT three times a day after meats; hada bath once a day, water about blood heat; used Coricuna Soar freely; applied Currccra more. ingandevening. Result, returned to my home in jus six weeks from time Ileft, aud my skin as smooth as this sheet of paper. HIRAM E. CARPENTER. HENvERSON, Jefferson Co., N. ¥.
