The hearing in the Rerdell star route conspiracy case was not resumed in the Police Court to-day, on account of the counsel being engaged in the Star route cases in the Criminal Court. District Government Affairs, ‘The Commissioners have directed the District treasurer to charge $1 each for permits to manu- facturers to sell goods of thelr own make in the District. SLAUGHTER HOUSES. In response to a letter from Hon. H. 8. Neal, chairman of the House District committee, asking if there are any complaints against the butchering establishments of the District by reason of the manner of conducting the same, the Commissioners State that while there have been no specific com- plaints against these places as injurious to health, complaints have been made of the offensive char- acter of some of them. STREET-CAR TRANSFER TICKETS. In response to a request of Hon. E. H. Rollins, chairman Senate committee on street railroads, for the views and suggestions of the District Com- missioners as to the feasibility and Upto A of legistation requiring a system of mutual transfers between the various street car lines, whereby a passenger, by the payment of a single fare to one company, may be -transferred to and complete his or her journey to destination by an- other Ifne, the Commissioners state that they are of opinion that legislation requiring a system of mutual transfers between the vurious lines 1s both feasible and desirable. It 1s, however, worthy of consideration whether, at the present rates of transportation on the several car lines, these transfers should be required tobe made without additional charge.
