Mrs. Theophiins Youngs, whose ligation In New York with the brother of her husband had brought her prominently before the public, died suddenly on Saturday evening, at her home, near Oxen run in the county. Mrs Youngs was the granddaugh- terof the late Rev. Dr. Laurie, who many years ago was the pastor of the F-street Presbyterian church, now Willard hall. She was at the tne of her death about forty years of age. During the War the deceased was married to Theophilus Youngs, and lived with him a few years, havi sever children. Youngs then left ‘the city, an Mrs. Youngs followed him to Baltimore, but he would not return here with her. In 1876 aman Was drowned in Boston harbor, and tt was clitined that this was Theophilus Youngs, upon which the property went into the hands of a brother of The- ophilus as wdininistrator. After a time Youngs (r aman claiming to be Youngs) returned, but Ars. Youngs did not (or would not) recognize’ him. us het hushant. A law suit in New York followed, and is now pending. It is probable that the deat of Mrs. Youngs will end the titigation. Hutehinson and Amelia Trunnell. ee FINED FOR BLACKING A WOMAN'S Evs.—James Cole, a well-dressed one-armed colored man, was charged in the Police Court Saturday by a flashily-dressed mulatto girl, named Lucy Clark, with having assaulted her. @ testimony of the complainant and other witnesses was to the effect it they all belonged to the “Thirty-sixth Jerusa- lem Lodge,” and Brother Cole 1s the secretary of the lodge, and last Thursday night, after the lod “stand Hall over, and they were coming out of the Island in South Washington, a dispute arose between the members of the lodge, which resulted in Brother Cole blacking Lucy’s eye. The prisoner stated that he had some words with another woman, and Miss Clark took it up and Struck him in the neck, and he struck her back. The adjourned meeting ef that ancient associa- tion, the Congressional Temperance Society, at the Foundry Church, last evening, was of much inter- est, well repaying the large number of people wae auended, and showing that the society’ stil lives, after neariy half a century, and that the 47th €on- gress, like the 22d and others following, contains some’ earnest and eloquent advocates of strict temperance. Samson, which fact he ascertatned in July, 1880, ‘and that he at once separated from her and has not lived with her since, He further charges her with adultery. pada “SE SERIOUS CHARGE OF AssaULT.—Three young men named Samuel Lusby, Jo-eph Dillon, and ‘Thomas Bennett were arrested by OMicer Fritz for having brutally assaulted a young man named George ‘Tucker, at the corner of 7th Street and the Avenue, about 10:80 o'clock Saturday night. This morning, in the Police Court, Mr. Moore called Judge Snell's attention to the assiuit, and stated that he had a certificate from a physician which stated that the injured man will be confined to his bed for several days. J. Murray for the defendant. Zarembo had accepted service with the Russian minister at $8 per month. The minister left for Newport without payifig Zarembo his wages, over due, and leaving no money to purchase food. The minister stated that he would arrange with Riggs & Co. as to furnishing Zarem- bo with money, and failed to doit, After’ writins to the minister and stating his needs he receives no repty, and he then pawned a clock for $2 and cloak for $3, and used the money to buy bread, intending to redeem them when he received thé money from Mr. Bartholomel, the minister. Bubse- uently he notified the minister to find some one else to take charge of the house, and the mivister sent an agent who took charge, and the prisoner returned to Ohio, where he Was arrested and brought back to this city.
