Christmas Presents, HOW TO GET THEM. The three days which intervene between now and Christmas will be busy ones for nearly everybody. There seems to be on every hand the note of preparation for a season of unusual enjoyment, which will begin on Christmas eve— Saturday night. The departments have a half holiday on Saturday, so that all in official life can get ready for the evening. ANNUAL MEBTING—ELECTION OF TRUSTEES AND OFFICERS—LETTER FROM PRESIDENT TONER. The annual meeting of the Soctety of the Washington Training School for Nurses was held yesterday, at their lecture-room, 1425 New York avenue. In the absence of the president, Dr. D. W. Prentiss was called tothechair. The annual report of the treasurer showed a balance on hand of $1,000. The income from the Martha Washington Tea Party was $314. A donation from Mrs. Chapman Coleman of $20 was ac- knowledged; also one of $10 from Mrs. Ogle Tayloe, and €5 from Judge Cox. A vote of thanks was given to those ladies who took part in the recent Martha Washington Tea Party, and contributed so much toward making it a suc- cess, ANNUAL ELECTION. Mr. S. V. Niles, Mra, Gen. Ricketts and Mrs. Montgomery Blair were elected additional trus- tees. The four trustees, whose term of office had expired, were re-elected, viz: Mrs. A. M. Gangewer, Mrs. Dr. D. W. The president, Dr. Toner, stated, in a letter read by the secretary, that he was gratified to be able to say that the present condition of the society, as well as its future prospects, were yery encouraging. The graduates of our school have found steady employment. and have given satisfaction gilike to their patrons and to the physicians whose patients they have nursed. ‘Thenumber of pupils enrolled and attending the school is now greater than at any former period. Bray against the steam tug Pride, dismissing the petition. The claim was that the schooner Bray, being towed down through the ice last winter by the tug, with other vessels, broke the line and was left by the tug in such a position that when the ice commenced to move she was cut through.
