THE MAN WITH THE BLACK MOUSTACHE FOUND, A special correspondent of the N.Y. Tritnme writes from New Haven, August 27, as follows: Three weeks ago this morning the body of Jen- nie Cramer was discovered coming in with the tide at Savin Rock Beach. Since then jurymen, counsels, detectives and citizens have been en- gaged in tracing the circumstances of her death, but these ere still involved in mystery. Blanche Douglass’ last public statement was that James Malley carried the girt in his arms to his room. Her secret confession will throw much light on Jennie’s condition at that time, and it is under- stood that this will show that she was drugged. The girl was invited to the Malley House for supper. The testimony of the others is that only light wine was drank. It is fully believed now, that, if so, the wine was drug; THERE IS STILL A CONFLICT OF TESTIMONY werning who of the four were at Redcliffe’s aurant on Thursday evening at abont 10 o’cloc! The testimony of those in charge ii that Walter Malley, Jennie and B . were there. The testimony of Blanche. mes is that they th at all credited here. John Henry, and This is not The story of Rawli the waiter, is believed. The as Mr. Bollman said last night, that the four passed Thursday jalley lodging-rooms over the re taurant, in rooms 26 and 29, as testitied to by the chambermaid, Bertha Williamson. Audley ud Twining, two of the best witnesses the state has had according to its counsel, have testified to seeing Jennie and James Malley together in Temple street Friday afternoon, about 3 o'clock. Jennie went to Savin Rock that evening, and James Malley was there with her, according to testimony for the state, and the two have been traced there as late as 9:30. Testimony yet to be produced carries the history on. OF THE JURY SAID last night: “There is an unbroken history now up to this time [9:30 p.m. Friday], and James Malley, jr.. was with her. Jennie was at Savin Rock in his charge and under his protection; he is the last person seen with hi he had been with her constantly for weeks. She had been on two nights of the week with him. Under the circumstances James Malley, jr., is the man accountable for Jennie’s death. ‘After the testi- mony that has been given he must be called on to give an account of her. When did he leave her, if he knows nothing of her death? Wh; did he leave her, after being with her so muci and being her eseort Friday night? He cannot pe these questions. He has got to come right to the front and answer. When T. E. Doolittle gets hold of him and Blanche in the superior court he will put them questions that will place them where they ought to be.” Mr. Doolittle, the county attorney for the state, has the a. perce unsparing and og a capable at juestioning. le isa for cp cross-qi terror THE BLACK-MOUSTACHED MAN has been found to be Harry Ford, a Boston sporting man, who formerly lived in this city. He was seen at Savin Rock this prning by Chief Webster, and acknowledged that he was onthe shore Thursday and Friday evenings, August 4and 5. He did not ruin Jennie Cra- mer. It was he who raised the covering from her body on Saturday morning, when Mrs. Hun- ter recognized him, having seen him the even- ing before at the flying horses. He has no brogue, and says he does not drink, so Mrs. Hunter was much mistaken about his appear- ance. He anda friend were with the girls at the shore Thursday evening, and one of the girls had several fits infront of the Beach House. The woman was taken away ina beach wagon, and it was this party which attracted attention on Meadow street. Those who saw them con- founded Thursday and Friday hts. He saw Jennie, or the person whose body he recognized the next morning, at the flying horses, and heard Jennie beg the young man who was with her to take her off the horses. He has been subpanaed as a witness. Montaomery Covyty (Mp.) Primartes.—The returns of the democratic a oe in Montgomery county, Md., Saturday, indicate that George Peter will nominated for the state senate, and Joseph Dvson and Joseph Hen- derson for the house of delegates. A special to e Baltimore American says: The third man will be either Thomas Waters of T., or William Canby, with the chances in favor of Waters. The old board of county commissioners—Solomon Dowden, W. W. Poole, George T. Waters and G. Hardesty—will_ be renominated; also, Robert G. Connell. John A. Clements will be the nominee for the sheriffalty, and Chas. Town- send for county surveyor. The lezislative ticket will in all probability be made up of the different factions, so as to insure that there will be no break in the party this fall. —— ‘Tue TERRIBLE GALE ON THE SovTH Cano- Lixa Coast.—Throughout Saturday and Satur- day night tne easterly gale along the South Carolina coast blew with furious force, and the Young Sioux on a Raid, OBTAINING ARMS IN SOME MYSTERIOUS WaT<— SOLDIERS SENT IN PURSUIT. ‘k to Bismarck, reported that before he Standing Rock, Wednesday, 150 Indians, mostiy, young bucks, had left the agency, and had, im some unaccountable manner, procured er of arms and ammunition, and — being mounted, had started off in a northwesterly di+ | Rection across the country.
