CONFERENCE ON THE LICENSE QUESTION. Messrs. J. L. Barbour and Frank Hume, with Mr. L. G. Hine, representing the Liquor Deal- ers’ Association, had a conference with the Dis- trict Commissioners yesterday. Several points which they raised were found upon discussion fo conflict with the rules already adopted by the Commiscioners, when the latter stated that they could not undertake to break through es- tablished rules, but that any new points which the liquor dealers might present would be taken in consideration and a decision would hereafter be made which would be forwarded to the license board for their guidance. Mr. Hine then committed to paper several points. One Was that when a property holder or housekeeper Signifies by letter or communication to the Commissioners or license board that they have no objection to an app:icant roosting a license, and at the same time refuse to sign the — tion itself, that such letter sho ‘be deemed and taken as a consent, without a signature to the application. Another, that the fact that the premises occupled by an applicant for a Ieense is connected by a communicating door ‘with premises occupied by a person engaged in another kind of business, should be 20 objec- tion in granting a license; another, that be- cause a person Kk @ grocery store, or does any other kind of business, is no valid reason why a license should not be granted to him.
